The World Athletics Indoor Championships 2025 held in Nanjing concluded after three thrilling days, featuring 516 athletes from 117 federations. The event marked the beginning of a busy year for athletics, with three major events in 2025, including the World Athletics Relays in Guangzhou and the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

A host of records were set in Nanjing, including 32 federation records, three area records, and a championship record by Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay, whose 1500m time of 3:54.86 was the fastest ever indoors. Grant Holloway (USA) and Mondo Duplantis (SWE) made history by winning their third consecutive world indoor titles in the 60m hurdles and pole vault, respectively. Jakob Ingebrigtsen became only the second man to win two individual golds at a single edition, taking titles in the 1500m and 3000m. Patrizia van der Weken (LUX) secured her country’s first World Championships medal in the 60m, while rising stars Claire Bryant (long jump) and Josh Hoey (800m) earned surprise golds.
